Gestational Diabetes

Gestational diabetes is one kind of diabetes that discovered during pregnancy of a women. It is a condition characterized by high blood glucose levels. Gestational diabetes is the result of hormonal changes.this hormonal changes occur in all women during pregnancy. When the hormones are increased high level then increased levels of certain hormones made in the placenta (the organ that connects the baby by the umbilical cord to the uterus and transfers nutrients from the mother to the baby). This condition is called “insulin resistance” when the placenta grows larger due to pregnancy, it produces more hormones And thats result for insulin resistance. Normally the mother’s pancreas is able to produce more insulin. It is usually about three times to the normal amount of production to overcome the insulin resistance. If the pancreas fails to produce enough insulin to overcome to this effect, then glucose levels will rise, resulting in gestational diabetes.

Gestational diabetes paitent should allways counsious about Which foods to eat, When to eat and How much to eat because Gestational diabetes can be completely and effectively controlled with diet alone , no more necessary to take medicine. It is difficult to maintain healthy blood sugar levels during pregnancy. Gestational diabetes is typically conducted between the 24th and 28th week of pregnancy. To control gestational diabetes a fasting glucose needs to be less than 95 milligrams/deciliter, and a two-hour postprandial needs to be less than 120 milligrams/deciliter. A healthy diet for gestational diabetes is one that includes a balance of foods from all the food groups, giving you the nutrients, vitamins, and minerals needed for a healthy pregnancy. Women should be carefull to take breakfast, lunch, mid-afternoon, dinner food. She should be follow a food menu, thats are suitable for her health and that make under control gestational diabetes. Water is the best option as it contains no sugar to counteract the goals for keeping glucose amounts intact. Exercise is a key component to assisting insulin function.

Gestational diabetes can take a bad affect on the developing baby throughout the pregnancy.a mother’s diabetes can result in birth defects.it also cause an increased rate of miscarriage. Many of the birth defects that occur affect major organs such as the brain and heart.a mother’s diabetes can lead to over-nutrition and excess growth of the baby.this excess growth of the baby increases risks during labor and delivery. a normal delivery is difficult for large babies, they often require caesarean deliveries and if he or she is delivered vaginally, they are at increased risk for trauma to their shoulder.
